In 1961, a company was founded that radically transformed one of the most essential components of a car—making it not only functional but also visually distinctive.

For over half a century, Brembo’s growth has been marked by significant technical, sporting and commercial achievements that have made the Italian company a global leader and turned the brand into a name almost synonymous with “brakes.”

Among these achievements is the development of the first complete braking system for motorcycles, which became standard on Moto Guzzi and later, in 1972, on Laverda. Just three years after that, Brembo began supplying Ferrari in the Formula 1 championship. The 1980s saw further innovation with the introduction of the first aluminum caliper and the first carbon wheels. These milestones were followed by Brembo going public, opening new factories in countries where its clients operate, and creating the Kilometro Rosso (“Red Kilometer”) technology park near Bergamo. The company continues to evolve in response to the ongoing transformation of the transport sector, with a focus on increasingly electric and environmentally friendly mobility.
